Peter M. Potente
Mr. Potente’s primary practice pertains to the area of Business Law. Mr. Potente’s work includes business entity formation and legal representation concerning business and real property transactions throughout California. Mr. Potente has a business and finance background and comes from a family of business entrepreneurs. In representing his clients, Mr. Potente’s primary focus is to accomplish his clients’ objectives in an efficient and cost effective manner. As a business owner himself, Mr. Potente understands the tough and complex environment that business owners face every day in California.
Prior to forming Lyman and Potente, APLC, Mr. Potente served as a Deputy City Attorney for the cities of Rancho Mirage and Cathedral City where his work pertained to real property and other related municipal matters. Following his post as a Deputy City Attorney, Mr. Potente worked as an associate for the Boss Law Firm in San Diego where his practice areas concerned the representation of title insurance companies and the financial and physical ramifications pertaining to the purchase, re-finance, and selling of residential and commercial real property in California and the underlying title issues created by such transactions.
Mr. Potente is a graduate of The Ohio State University where he majored in Finance and minored in Spanish. Following his undergraduate work, Mr. Potente attended and graduated from California Western School of Law in San Diego.
Mr. Potente is a member of the Los Angeles and San Diego County Bar Associations under the practice sections of Business and Corporate Law.
Mr. Potente lives in Southern California and enjoys running, hiking, gourmet cooking, the Rolling Stones, and being outside as much as possible.
Drew Lyman
Drew Lyman graduated from the University of California at Davis with a degree in Political Science. Mr. Lyman served as Press Secretary and Legislative Aide to U.S. Congressman Cass Ballenger (NC-10) in Washington, DC.
As a law student, Mr. Lyman was elected to California Western's Student Bar Association, where he worked as a liaison to the San Diego County Bar Association. Mr. Lyman also externed in the U.S. District Court of Southern California for Hon. William McCurine, Jr., U.S. Magistrate Judge and interned for U.S. Bankruptcy Trustee Richard Kipperman.
Mr. Lyman was appointed Deputy City Attorney for the City of San Diego, where he prosecuted misdemeanors. Mr. Lyman successfully argued motions and jury trials on behalf of the City. Mr. Lyman and his business partner Peter M. Potente formed Lyman & Potente, APLC, where Drew Lyman is President and Partner. An active member of San Diego’s legal community, Mr. Lyman is a board member of the San Diego Bankruptcy Forum and Co-Chair of the Bankruptcy section of the San Diego County Bar Association. Mr. Lyman’s professional associations also include the American Bar Association and the Lawyer’s Club of San Diego.
Mr. Lyman believes that each case is important and that every client deserves responsiveness and careful attention to detail. He particularly enjoys assisting business owners in achieving a new financial start.
In his spare time, Mr. Lyman enjoys surfing, hiking and exercising. He is also actively involved in his church.
